(HMG) – The video reportedly showing John Edwards and his mistress doing sexy time is now in the hands of a North Carolina judge, who hopefully is wearing gloves. A court battle for possession of the reportedly steamy sex tape featuring the former Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards and his mistress Rielle Hunter has experienced a number of twists and turns this past week, with another hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Andrew Young, a former aide to Edwards was held in contempt and ordered by Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones to produce the tape to the court or face jail time. Young, a former aide to Edwards who has written a tell-all book, has said he found the tape discarded in a home where he and his family lived with Hunter at one time. The North Carolina judge ordered that private security officers accompany Young to the Atlanta safe deposit box where the sex tape was stored. In another round of legal maneuvers, Young’s lawyers managed to have the order for a private security team suspended, as soon as Young retrieved the sex video from the safe deposit box.

Hunter brought the court proceedings against Young and his wife for the return of the sex tape and other property belonging to her in their possession. The court is expected to vacate the order of contempt against Young and his wife during the court hearing this afternoon. Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones will hold on to the tape and other property sought by Hunter, until ownership can be established.

Meanwhile the National Enquirer reports that Elizabeth Edwards attempted suicide when she discovered that her husband John Edwards had impregnated Hunter. Reportedly, a friend of the Edwards family told the National Enquirer about Elizabeth’s threat to kill herself during those dark times. Elizabeth has recently filed for divorce from John.

(HMG) – If his tweets weren’t enough to tell you that John Mayer has never meet the word discretion when it comes to talking about his love life, this new Playboy interview (via UsWeekly) ought to make intelligent woman particularly those that enjoy their privacy run for the hills before dating this guy. Well I am not so certain of Jessica Simpson’s intelligence or desire for privacy but I am pretty sure Jennifer Aniston has to be regretting dating this egotist. Here’s a few snippets from his interview.

John on Jessica being his drug: “And drugs aren’t good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me. Sexually it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm. Did you ever say, ‘I want to quit my life and just f**king snort you? If you charged me $10,000 to fuck you, I would start selling all my shit just to keep f**king you.‘”

John on Jennifer Aniston dumping him because he is a Tweet-er, basically saying she is a technophobe who wishes she could go back to her career prime in 1998: “There was a rumor that I’d been dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn’t it, but that was a big difference. The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she’s still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. And I always said, ‘These are the new rules.‘”

John on how many girls he’s screwed since Aniston: “I’m going to say four or five. No more. But even if I said 12, that’s a reasonable number. So is 15. Here’s the thing: I get less ass now than I did when I was in a local band. Because now I don’t like jumping through hoops.”

John on how he’s upping his fame-whoring game in 2010: “From now on Im just going to pretend that people really dig the shit out of me. I’ve been trying to prove to people I’m not a douche bag by not dating, by keeping my name out of Us Weekly. That’s f**ked up, man. I’m not dating. I’m not even f**king. So now I’m going to experiment with ‘fuck you.’ In 2010 my goal is to get more mentions in Us Weekly than ever.”

In the interview, he also explained why he didn’t date black women, comparing his genitals to white supremacist David Duke, and liberally used the ‘N’ word. There is context to everything so without having the entire interview to show (click here to see it at Playboy) I would have left this part alone for another time but Mayer has already come out an apologized for his statements on Twitter saying:

“It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it’s gotten out of hand and I’ve created somewhat of a monster,” Mayer tweeted. “I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don’t have the stomach for it.”

Mayer also said he should have never have used the N-word in any context and will never say it again.

“And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged,” he said.

I don’t buy the apology, particularly on not trying to be a shock jock, after saying what he did about Jessica Simpson. Anyway I think he is well on his way now to getting more mentions in Us Weekly than ever.

As the day wears on, John Mayer is digging himself deeper and deeper. The singer was loose-lipped in a Playboy interview about his past relationships with Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston, which we told you about this morning. Now he’s reaching out to apologize for another blunder during that same interview – using the “N” word.

He took to Twitter to apologize for it:

“Re: using the ‘N word’ in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.”

“And while I’m using today for looking at myself under harsh light, I think it’s time to stop trying to be so raw in interviews…It started as an attempt to not let the waves of criticism get to me, but it’s gotten out of hand and I’ve created somewhat of a monster. I wanted to be a blues guitar player. And a singer. And a songwriter. Not a shock jock. I don’t have the stomach for it. Again, because I don’t want anyone to think I’m equivocating: I should have never said the word and I will never say it again.”

Actress Selma Blair was spotted in Los Angeles today, taking her one-eyed puppy “Wink” for a walk. Just look at him – he is so sweet! Selma is an animal activist who works with the Lang Foundation, a local no-kill animal shelter in LA

After their walk, Selma then headed from the sunshine of Cali to the blizzard conditions of New York City for fashion week. I wonder if the snow will stop some people from attending?

Alice in Wonderland Exclusive Mad Hatter Featurette in HD

In this mini-featurette Johnny Depp shares some insight into the upcoming ‘Alice In Wonderland’.

“He’s a fascinating character,” says Depp of the depraved dandy. “He’s mad. He’s unpredictable.”

He feels that Alice and the Mad Hatter are very close:

Johnny shared that even though he’s done numerous sword fights as Captain Jack Sparrow, he had to find the Hatter’s way of fighting:
